MARLOW Rowing Club won 14 events as they finished top club at the Marlow Town Regatta last weekend, while Sir William Borlase's School and The Royal Grammar School also claimed a win apiece in the event which attracted more than 300 crews from all over the south of England.
Marlow's crew of Dan Wicks, Tom Picton, Tom Rendell, Sam Gost, Charlie Bates, Rick Border, Miles Noble and Ed Griffith, with cox Amy Greenland came from behind to win the Invitation Eights and Greenland, Bates, and Border picked up their second wins of the day when they combined with Hugh Johnson and Phil Read to win the Senior Four coxed fours.
In the girls junior events, Leigh Merrifield from Great Marlow School had a superb day with two wins in Marlow Rowing Club colours. She won the Girls J14 single sculls and then teamed up with school and club colleague Rachael Finnis to win the Junior 14 double sculls.
Alice Denyer also won two events, the first with her father in the mixed family double sculls, and was also the stroke of the winning Junior Girls 14 Quad Sculls with Anna Humphry, Sarah Briggs and Bridget Coles, which comfortably beat Sir William Borlase's and Claires Court school in the final.
Another victory came in the Junior 18 double sculls through Ruth Garrett and Steph Mottram.
The boys also performed with honours.
Nick Crease and Marcus Clover won the J15 double sculls while National School finalists Chris Johnston and Jack Hockley lived up to their reputation, winning the novice double sculls.
Joe Rawlinson won the single sculls and then picked up his second win with Jo Prosser in the Junior 13 double sculls.
The Junior boys quad sculls also went to Marlow when David and James Loveday and Oliver Plant and Matt Best beat Reading and RGS, High Wycombe.
The Project Oarsome event, for Juniors new to the sport, also went Marlow's way with Joe Hale, Tom Burton, Jack Garrett and Chris Rendell coming home first coxed by Billy Kelley.
But Marlow were beaten in the final of the Junior Eight final by Brisbane Boys High School who are over from Australia training for Henley.
Elsewhere, the Royal Grammar School's win came in the J16 single sculls while Sir William Borlase's win was achieved in the womens Junior 15 coxed quads.
