PRIME Minister Tony Blair and his wife Cherie read the Free Press to find things to do for their family, it has been revealed.

Mrs Blair proudly claimed her family were Free Press readers when she attended the official opening of the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, High Street, Great Missenden, on Friday.

She ignored the national press to speak to her favourite local paper after the museum opening, greeting our reporter, with: "Hello Bucks Free Press."

She added: "I do come to Great Missenden quite often because Chequers is just down the road. I will definitely be bringing my children to this museum as we are always looking for things to do at the weekends. And we know there are a lot of things to do around here because we read it in your paper."

Chequers, the official country residence of the PM, is just a few miles from Great Missenden. The Blairs spend quite a lot of their weekends there.

The mother-of-four showed she was a fan of Roald Dahl's books by taking care with her appearance for the museum opening.

She added: "I had to think very carefully today about what I was going to wear, because you have to be careful when you come to anything to do with Roald Dahl. What I decided to do was to make sure that everybody could see my toes, positively wear no gloves whatsoever, and thankfully because of the wind, you may have noticed that I do not wear a wig.

And the reason for that is to do with one of Roald Dahl's books The Witches. So I can positively confirm that I am certainly not the Great High Witch and I hope all the newspapers are taking a note of that."
