THIS year Volunteers Week, June 1 to 7, celebrated its 21st anniversary. Once again there were events throughout the country to acknowledge and thank volunteers for the huge contribution they make to their community.
The week also provided an opportunity to encourage others to get involved in a club, project or organisation in their home town and really help make a difference.
One of these organisations is The British Lung Foundation, the onlycharity supporting the eight million people living with lung conditions in the UK and volunteers are needed today in all areas of the country.
By giving a couple of hours of your time each month, you could help support your local Breathe Easy groups a network of support groups for people living with lung disease by providing information, support and encouragement.
We have volunteers supporting groups in many ways; treasurers, secretaries, fundraisers, drivers, activity organisers or just another pair of hands to help out as and where needed there is a role for everyone and everyone is welcome!
Volunteering for the British Lung Foundation will strengthen our Breathe Easy network, which is vital to the charity and anyone affected by a lung disease.
This is a great opportunity to take part in a group that draws people together locally and has a positive impact on your community.
Please support us in order that we can continue to help those living with a lung condition.
There is a Breathe Easy group covering High Wycombe and in other areas.
They raise money and help people who have all types of breathing problems.
If you would like to get involved please call the BLF on 020 7688 5576 or email volunteering@blf-uk.org, Fran McCabe, Head of regional development and Breathe Easy
