I DISAGREE with Cindy-Lee Hyde's letter in last Friday's Free Press which I understood to mean that Marlovians want a super, super Waitrose in their town.
I fully support Mike Post who says that a modest enlargement would be quite adequate.
The reason why Marlow shoppers go to Asda and Tesco is because they are cheaper than Waitrose.
In spite of its slogan that its goods are "honestly priced", I think they are still higher than their competitors.
When I spoke to the manager about it he said "seasonal variations".
I do not see any seasonal reductions. The only reductions which are sometimes attractive are when prices are reduced because of the proximity of the "sell by date".
Even then some are too high. This is just one of the many reasons why Waitrose does not deserve expansion.
I have lived in Marlow as an adult for 37 years!
