BIG BROTHER star Makosi Masumbasi could face more than household eviction if immigration officers decide she is ineligible to stay in the UK after quitting her nursing job to join the reality TV show.
The 24-year-old Zimbab-wean from High Wycombe quit her job as a trainee cardiac nurse at Wycombe Hospital in May to take up permanent residence in the Big Brother house in Hertfordshire.
Her actions could mean she is in breach of work permit conditions and UK immigration laws.
Speaking to Midweek, the Home Office declined to comment on an individual case but said if anyone requiring a work permit for the UK leaves their job, their right to stay would be reviewed by immigration officers and the appropriate action would be taken.
A spokesman said appearing on Big Brother was not considered legitimate emp-loyment.
But the producers of Big Brother claim they have seen hard proof that Makosi is eligible to compete in the show.
A spokesman for Big Brother said: "Our producers have seen all the relevant legal documents. We are satisfied that Makosi is a legal UK resident and because of that she is in the show."
Meanwhile, Makosi is proving a hit with the viewing public and bookmakers are making her joint favourite to win Channel 4's sixth reality TV series.
Ladbrokes have slashed the odds on the 24-year-old walking away with the £100,000 cash prize after her topless antics last week, ranking her joint 4-1 favourite.
Ladbrokes Warren Lush said: "You cannot underestimate the power of dancing topless around the garden. It's a race between Maxwell, Kemal and Makosi."
