MEMBERS of Chalfont St Peter and Gerrards Cross Probus group got an authentic look at the life of the suffragettes.
Actress Louise Reed, performing in front of guests at Gerrards Cross Memorial Hall for a second time, gave a star turn dressed as the pioneer for women's rights Emmeline Pankhurst.
But things got even more interesting when the plight of women in 1904 was remembered through the eyes of one members female guest, whose grandmother was involved in the movement.
Secretary Barry Hulme said: "It was brilliant, a fabulous night. Louise was brilliant as our speaker. She really knows how to encapsulate an audience.
"She spoke as if she were Emmeline Pankhurst, about her life, her family and her campaign."
