VILLAGE CARE Open Gardens and my apologies for not including the date last week. The gardens are open on Sunday. Village Care is very keen for you all to walk round and enjoy some beautiful local gardens and at the same time help to raise much needed funds.
Open Gardens Sunday is a wonderful afternoon visiting more than 20 gardens in the villages of Penn and Tylers Green. It is also the major fundraising event for Village Care.
You collect the map of all the open gardens at the village hall between 1.30pm and 5.30pm. It will cost £6 for a family ticket which includes up to three adults, children are free. A single adult, that's on your own, will cost you £3.
You then visit all or as many of the gardens as you can, making a very special stop at Tylers End, Glebelands for a lovely cup of tea.
VILLAGE SHOW and entry forms are now in most shops in the village, the village hall and the nursery on Hammersley Lane. There are a host of different classes for both young and old, female and male to enter, so you do not have any excuses. The show takes place in the village hall on Saturday, July 9 from 2.15pm.
CRICKET and the first eleven lost, again, at Wraysbury leaving them bottom of the first division and still waiting for their first win of the season.
Wraysbury batted first and amassed 294 all out, Peter Harold 3-42 and Paul Francis 3-43, were the pick of the Penn bowling. Penn made a real fight of their reply and were all out 7 runs short of victory. Peter Harold added to his good bowling performance with a magnificent 120.
The second eleven also lost to Wraysbury, having been dismissed for 156, J Stickley 52, they suffered the worst possible result as Wraysbury reached victory without losing a wicket.
LATEST ISSUE of Village Voice has just been published and should be put through your door very soon. It contains full and detailed information on the celebrations to commemorate 60 years since the end of Second World War. You may still be able to purchase a ticket for the main event on Saturday, July 2 when a supper is being held at the sports club.
PENN CHURCH plant sale is at Watercroft in Church Road, Penn, tomorrow, from 2pm to 4pm. There will be lots of plants for sale as well as teas, cakes, tombola and more.
