THIS WEEKEND marks an important stage in the development of the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, after years of hard work. This evening there will be an invitation only reception and from tomorrow the museum will be open.
You are advised to book ahead, as numbers of visitors have to be limited by the size of the site. Also, there is no car parking on site, so please park in the pay and display car park in Link Road, only a few minutes walk from the museum. Opening hours are Tuesday to Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays from 10am to 5pm. To book your visit phone 01494 892192 or visit the website www.roalddahlmuseum.org FIRST WRITER IN RESIDENCE, Val Rutt, will talk about how she got her first children's novel published, on Wednesday at 7pm. Tickets are £6.50 to include wine or a soft drink. All activities at the museum will need to be booked in advance, details as above.
FAMILY ACTIVITIES at the museum include Folk and Fairy Tales from different cultures for children five plus and their families on Saturday, June 18, 11.30am to 12.30pm or 2.30pm to 3.30pm. Price is £5 to include museum entry.
LEARN ABOUT the work of the British Red Cross at the library on Thursday at 11am.
CHALK LEYS Retirement Home, near the Fire Station, will hold a Summer Fete tomorrow from 2pm to 4pm. The event will be opened by David Lidington, MP and there will be all the usual stalls and attractions.
VISIT ROALD DAHL'S Garden at Gipsy House for a Family Fun Afternoon on Saturday, June 18 from 2pm to 5pm.
TWO YOUNG MUSICIANS, whose talents are taking them to prestigious music conservatoires, invite you to an evening of varied musical entertainment on Saturday, June 18 in Little Missenden village hall at 7.30pm. The artistes are Clare Graham, cello and piano, and Vanessa Bowers, soprano. Tickets are available from 01494 862680 for £8, £6 concessions, or £10 on the door.
FLOWER FESTIVAL at the Parish Church will take place over the weekend of June 24-26, with the theme of Flowers in Harmony.
