TWO highly acclaimed shows are being revived as part of a national tour to celebrate the trust's silver anniversary.

The Saltmine Theatre Company is bringing its productions of The Screwtape Letters and The Hiding Place to the Shelley Theatre, Marlow, next Wednesday and Thursday as part of the Saltmine Trust's 25th birthday.

The double bill will be touring nationwide in June and November and both productions will be performed during the final week of the Edinburgh International Festival Fringe where the company received a prestigious "Fringe Sell Out Show" award last year.

Cally Hamilton, creative arts co-ordinator at Saltmine Trust, says: "The two plays being toured were chosen by members of The Green Room Club (a support group for Saltmine Theatre Company) when they were invited to vote for their most favourite productions from the company's repertoire."

The Screwtape Letters was adapted for the stage by writer and broadcaster Nigel Forde. The story is set in England in 1939 and moves between there and Professor Screwtape's study in the timeless dominion of hell.

The Hiding Place is based on the best-selling book by Corrie Ten Boom and John and Elizabeth Sherrill. Set in Holland in the Second World War, the play tells the story of Corrie and her family as they hid Jews in their shop during the Nazi occupation.

Saltmine Theatre Company is renowned in the field of Christian theatre and is one of the leaders in its field. It had its beginnings in 1985 as part of Saltmine Trust's "Team Project" initially performing short sketches and monologues, as part of Saltmine's church based mission programmes, but the company's output soon expanded.

The Screwtape Letters is on Wednesday June 8 and The Hiding Place is on Thursday June 9 at the Shelley Theatre, Marlow at 7.30pm. Tickets 01384 454807.
