LADY Dashwood has been left feeling sick after her beloved African Grey parrot went missing from her West Wycombe House.

Kiki, who the family have had for three years, flew out of the house on Tuesday, May 31, and appears to have vanished without trace.

The incident was distressing for the whole family and particularly for Kiki's twin brother who has never been separated from his sister.

Lady Dashwood said: "We are all very upset, not least of all Kiki's twin, Zulu. She has been part of the family for a number of years now. We are most concerned as although Kiki can fly, she has never been outside before like this and does not know how to find food or defend herself from the red kites."

The bird, who talks and makes telephone noises, can be identified by the ring she wears which says "BHUPI".

A spokesman for the Chiltern Conservation Board does not believe that Kiki has anything to worry about in terms of red kites but says that finding food to survive will be the main problem.

She said: "Red kites are not capable of killing anything smaller than a dead rabbit. They're scavengers, they go around the countryside looking for dead animals like roadkill. If the parrot was extremely sick or if it died then it would be a different matter. I don't think Lady Dashwood needs to worry about a parrot that's in good shape."

A reward of £150 is being offered for her safe recovery.
