WATCHING the recent footage on the television of commemorations to mark the end of the Second World War in Europe made me realise how important the personal stories surrounding these events are.
I'm currently working on an exciting BBC project called the People's War, and quite simply we're saving people's Second World War memories and are currently training volunteers to go out and find them in Buckinghamshire.
Without these story gatherers these stories will truly be lost for ever and lest we forget we really need to save them.
So if anyone reading this letter would like to be part of history and help save these humbling and fascinating stories that bring our history alive, I'd encourage them to get in touch with: BBC Three Counties Action , 1 Hastings St, Luton , LU1 5XL Tel: 01582 44 11 11
