LANDLORDS have presen-ted a petition to road chiefs protesting over the speed of their road after a car crashed into their pub.

Tony and June Goss, owners of the Red Lion in Thame Road, Longwick, are appealing for the speed of the road to be reduced from 40mph to 30mph and for a speed camera to be installed.

In 2003 a car lost control on the sharp bend outside their pub and smashed into their living room.

Mr Goss said: "It caused a lot of damage and it took seven months to repair. But that's not what bothers me, it's that the danger is still there. There are so many school buses that stop along here and there could be an absolute tragedy. I think it's another accident waiting to happen."

A 200-signature petition has been collected by Mr and Mrs Goss and presented to Paul Rogerson, county councillor for Icknield and Bledlow.

Tony Blackmore, acting team leader of network strategy and systems traffic management at Bucks Cou-nty Council, said the petition has been passed to Safer Roads, a partnership between county council and Thames Valley Police.

A report of the findings will be presented at the next local community meeting held in Marlow on July 13.
