PUPILS from Lord Williams's School in Thame competed in regional heats of the 2005 outdoor adventure Kielder Challenge.
Eight pupils aged 13 to 16 took on other teams from the south east on Friday, May 13, at the Black Park Country Park in Slough.
The team, made up of disabled and able-bodied children, needed to demonstrate their teamwork and communication skills to achieve points in games that required them to negotiate rope mazes and obstacle courses.
The Lord Williams's School team, which included five children with special needs, finished third in the regional heat.
Claire Wallace, director for Sport at Lord Williams's School, said: "This is the first time we have entered.
"We had a fantastic day at Black Park Country Park.
"The team of eight students, four from Year Eight and four from Year Ten, worked extremely hard and really pulled together as a group to complete the challenges.
"They really developed their teamwork and communication skills."
This year the Kielder Challenge is celebrating its 21st anniversary and over the years has seen more than 10,000 youngsters compete.
The competition is supported by the HSBC Education Trust and is organised by the outdoor access charity Fieldfare Trust.
