I AM a Wycombe Wanderers season ticket holder and I must take issue with the Free Press columnist Charles Mann over a remark in his column last Friday when he said that the club are now in the doldrums.

This is just not so in my opinion.

If one considers the state of the team after the relegation to League Two and then after the ill-fated experiment with Tony Adams as manager, I think that the team is in a much healthier state than it was in 2004 .

We have a manager who cares about the club, two assistants who are Blues legends, and we are also witnessing some much more entertaining football.

Add to that players such as Talia, Bloomfield, Martin and Williamson who are committing themselves for another two years coupled with the signing of a new striker Charlie Griffin (whether he plays alongside or replaces Nathan Tyson is another matter) then I think that you will find that John Gorman is building a team to mount a really serious promotion challenge in 2005-06.

It is now time that Wycombe Wanderers reclaimed its rightful place in the town's hearts as it did during the Martin O'Neill years and also during the FA Cup run of 2001.

I have no objections to Wasps playing in High Wycombe as well.

If anything the two clubs' continuing cohabitation will reap long-term financial benefits for both the football and rugby in the area.

We need to bring the big crowds back to Adams Park (sorry the Causeway Stadium) to get behind the team as it used to and especially encourage the younger supporters to choose Wanderers as their team rather than the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal etc.

Charles, you and other BFP writers have given excellent support to the Blues over the years both when the team was successful and during relegation battles.

Talk the team up, not down please.
