WINE TASTING evening held in the village on May 21 was most enjoyable. We were welcomed into the hall by a glass of bubbly and then tasted six other wines. While enjoying cheese and pate we held an informal judging ceremony and decided that we Great Kingshillians preferred stronger flavoured wines, especially ones aged in oak. We all kept to tasting portions so were able to walk home safely afterwards.
OPEN GARDEN at Sherona, Spurlands End Road, on Bank Holiday Monday is from 2pm to 5pm. There will be a comprehenshive range of plants in the garden and a bee keeping exhibition with local honey for sale. There's a massive plant sale, homemade cakes and creams teas. The entry is £2 and the event supports the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home charity.
PRAYER MEETING is held every Sunday at 5.30pm in Cryers Hill Methodist Church with requests for prayers from the neighbourhood. Sunday services are 10.30am with preacher Tony Cooper and 6pm has Rev Moira Peters with Communion. On Tuesday at 7.30pm the singing group meet and Thursday is the bible study at 7.30pm.
