DOG TRAINING CLUB Dog Show raised £257 for the Cinnamon Trust. Successful club entrants were Mark Webster, third in Rising Stars with his Rottweiler Tia and Emma Sutcliffe third in Mega Stars with collie cross Kruger. Both dogs and handlers have gained Kennel Club Good Citizen awards from puppy class to gold within a year. Mark and Tia also take part in the club demonstration team. Second, third and fourth respectively in the class for child handlers were local handlers Amelia Lowry with Sheltie Sophie, George Towersey with Westie Sadie and Emma Webster with Rottweiler Tia. Judge Fred Burns from Marlow presented 25 Kennel Club rosettes and bronze Good Citizen awards during the show.
ROGER WILDING, local site co-ordinator of Wycombe Wildlife Group, presented an illustrated resume of wild flowers suitable for introducing in a local woodland-edge setting at the AGM of Booker Common & Woods Protection Society (BCWPS). He will follow this up with a written report on the options for re-introducing wild flowers in the area below the Squirrel pub. The committee is very grateful to Roger for his time and for giving them the benefit of his extensive knowledge.
During the business part of the meeting it was reported that BCWPS had had difficulty collecting subscriptions for 2004/5. It is, however, solvent and will be holding a membership and subscriptions drive in the autumn.
