FIRST MARTYRS WALK of the season takes place tomorrow starting from the museum at 2.30pm. These special walks will take place every last Saturday through until the end of September and also on Heritage Day. The walks tell the story of why six townspeople were burnt to death 500 years ago for their religious views. Find out a bit about what they believed in, why they were burnt and what life was like in the early part of the 16th century. Led by guides in 16th century costume through the High Street and up to the Martyrs Memorial, your walk will include stops at around eight places relevant to the story. The walk lasts around two hours and costs £1 for adults with children walking for free. There is no need to book just come along on the day. The museum is open from 2pm so you may wish to include a visit into Amersham's other history too.

MONDAY there will be an opportunity to hear a selection of fair organ music in the pretty herb garden at the back of the Amersham Museum. A Limonaire fair organ will be playing between 2pm and 4.30pm. This used to be part of a children's roundabout that regularly came to the fair in Old Amersham between the 1920s and the late 1970s. It will be good to see its return. Come and hear the music, select a song from the programme that includes marches and waltzes then visit the museum.
