CHESHAM High School pupils are using web-based technology to build an interactive archive about life in the town during the Second World War.
Pupils are asking people to contact them with first-hand information on this period so they can record their experiences and enhance the historical knowledge of the town, as well as provide a future learning resource for GCSE and A-Level history pupils.
The website includes categories on what it was like to be an evacuee in Chesham, life in the armed forces, life as a child and the Americans.
According to the personal accounts contributed so far, there was quite a lot of tension between the British and American servicemen.
Other accounts reveal that children attended school in morning and afternoon shifts and self-help was their survival motto.
Pupils have also discovered that street games and marbles were most in vogue, more people attended church and diets included more fresh fruits and seasonal vegetables.
