THERE is more to education than going to school, as teenagers in High Wycombe have been finding out.

Green Street community centre, in High Wycombe, holds Friday sessions after school for its Junior Leaders Group under the tuition of youth leader Saqib Deshmukh.

The county council-funded scheme has been going for five years and people who have been through it now help and act as volunteers in the community working with other young people.

For example, five years ago Firzana Khan was a member of the group and is now a part-time youth worker helping the young leaders herself.

Mr Deshmukh said: "We want the young people to be informed so they can make better choices and pass on their knowledge. This area doesn't have a good name and it is important young people give positive action."
