A Wycombe business hopes to make a big impression by using "memory" foam in their bespoke furnishing.
Tailormade in Victoria Road is the first furniture business in the town to use "marshmallow-like" Visco Elastic foam originally developed by NASA to prevent astronauts getting pressure sores.
Until now, the wonder foam which moulds with body heat has been used by mattress manufacturers to help relieve back pain. Keith Johnson, 53 and his partner Michael Hawkins, 39, who run the business, also known as Furniture Direct, hit on the notion three weeks ago to try out the foam in their handbuilt sofas and chairs.
"Customers have a wide choice of filling materials such as feathers, fibre and foam in our furniture. We thought it would be good to give this foam a try. So far, people who have tested it say it is wonderfully comfortable.
