I RECENTLY received a fixed penalty notice from Thames Valley Police for speeding (40mph in a 30mph zone).
I would normally have no sympathy for anyone in this situation as our speeding laws are there to save lives, but are the police enforcing this law to save lives or cynically make money?
The particular spot I was caught speeding was not in a quiet residential area or outside the front of a school; I was caught by a mobile camera, going up Marlow Hill literally yards (I have subsequently measured thedistance) from the 40mph speed limit sign.
Although this is an extremely personal gripe, I am certain that I was not the only person to be caught out that day.
I would be interested to find out from the police how many accidents have occurred in this area as it is my understanding that the police only use mobile cameras to target accident blackspots.
