LABOUR supporter Nigel Vickery's ostrich-like response to his result in the county council elections (Free Press letters, last week) is typical of Labour people who just don't recognise two obvious facts about British politics.
First, that at least three parties are in contention over most of the country.
Second, that the voting system cannot respond properly to this situation.
It gives Labour a parliamentary majority on only 36 per cent of the vote, yet only two seats on Buckinghamshire County Council. Mr Vickery failed to make it three, and blames Lib Dem voters for "letting a Tory in".
Take your head out of the sand, Mr Vickery! It isn't the Lib Dems who let the Tories in it's the voting system.
