SO Labour's Nigel Vickery failed to get elected to a seat at County Hall on May 5. Why blame the Liberal voters?
It was a democratic election, run under the first-past-the-post rules.
I would like to remind him that although the boundaries have changed this time, there were several results in county council elections in the late 80s and through the 90s in the West Wycombe ward, when the Labour voters let the leader of the Conservatives retain his seat.
I was the Liberal Democrat candidate at that time and the Labour candidate trailed in third place.
If Mr Vickery wants to have a "fairer" democratic method of deciding elections perhaps he will arrange for a debate at the next Labour conference.
If he needs help in preparing a brief there are many Liberal Democrats who are willing to assist.
