SINCE I wrote about the South Bucks Dial-a Ride a couple of weeks ago, I understand this has been superseded by a Chiltern & South Bucks service. If you have trouble in getting around or find it difficult to use public transport then there is a door-to-door mini-bus service available from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. The service covers a wide area, taking in Windsor, Maidenhead, Wycombe, Beaconsfield, plus, of course, Gerrards Cross and Fulmer.
There is an annual membership of £6 and a fare is charged for each journey. To receive more details about the service, plus how to book, pricing, etc call 01494 766123.
THE HYPE has already started for J K Rowlings' new book, "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince". Its arrival will be celebrated at the Gerrards Cross Bookshop in Packhorse Road on Friday, July 15, with a midnight party, starting at 11.30pm, just before the new book goes on sale. The following day a special visitor from Hogwarts is expected in the shop between 9am and midday for a magic and wizardry morning.

UNFORTUNATELY Nadine Pienaar's tasting of South African wine, which was to have taken place, had to be cancelled. It is now hoped to re-schedule it for later in the year.

FULMER DAY, when the village puts its best foot forward for an afternoon and evening of fun and games, will take place on Saturday, June 25. Japanese displays, performed by the pupils of the Teikyo School, Indian painting and English and Irish dancing have already been booked for the afternoon's entertainment. It is also hoped there will be a celebrity to open the event.
