LADY Carrington visited Abbeyfield elderly home in Princes Risborough to celebrate the house's £500,000 refurbishment.

The care home underwent the upgrade to improve facilities and to increase the number of rooms for residents.

Ensuite facilities have now been built for all rooms and a lift has been installed.

Lady Carrington, who opened the Abbeyfield house in 1987, was accompanied by Lord Carrington and Abbeyfield Society Chairman David Flynn last month.

Seventy guests, including staff, volunteers and residents, then saw Lady Carrington unveil a plaque to mark the occasion.

Abbeyfield is one of the largest voluntary sector providers of housing and care for older people.

It currently cares for around 8,500 people country-wide.
