YOU may well have seen the news item last Monday or Tuesday about the 300 or so species of British plants which are in danger of extinction. Are you concerned about this? Would you like to be able to identify more of the British wild plants. Wycombe Wildlife Group is holding a course to enable you to do just that, on Wednesday at 7pm, and it is free. HAGA plant sale is on Saturday, May 21 starting at 10am by the village hall car park. Ten per cent of the profits go towards village hall funds. Plenty of summer annuals and perennials are usually on sale. There will be an opportunity for coffee and chat.
ON MONDAY the Art Group will have Sue Fawthrop leading on "abstract with mixed media". They are still anticipating Biddy Lee's Trompe L'Oeil day workshop on Saturday, May 28. Some more bookings for this would be welcome, phone 01494 563813. The workshop will be in the small village hall. Half-term activity for children who enjoy painting and craftwork can be booked on the same number for Wednesday, June 1, and it will take place at Piggotts from 10am to 12.30pm.
INFANT SCHOOL welcomes everyone to the Family Fun Day on Sunday, May 22. The gates will open at midday to all heroes, heroines and villains, There's It's a Knockout, bouncy castle, displays, beer tent and cream teas. Get tickets from the school office.
THERE is more story telling at Church House on Wednesday for adults and older children, based on Welsh fables. Katie Cawkwell will recount Rhiannon at 8pm with entry £8 and £6 concessions. This is the fourth in the series for Wycombe Arts Festival.
ALSO on Wednesday Anne Savage will give a talk at 7.30pm on Disraeli and Hughenden Manor, but this will be at Wycombe library. Tickets are £2 including wine and nibbles.
VALLEY WIVES evening summer ramble has had a change of date to Monday, May 25, still meeting at 7pm in the village hall car park.
