TWO primary school pupils who fired imitation guns at a coach driver during a school outing have avoided serious punishment.

The boys from Milbrook Combined School, whose identities are not known, were docked breaktimes and kept behind after school following the incident. Police are now investigating the incident which happened on board a Heyfordian Travel coach as youngsters and staff returned to High Wycombe from Milton Keynes on March 23.

Pauline Martin, headteacher at the Mill End Road school, told Midweek that pellet or any other form of toy guns were "completely forbidden" and appropriate action had been taken.

She added: "This is the first incident of its kind at the school and staff have made it clear to all pupils that such incidents will not be tolerated. This incident was dealt with straightaway and the boys' parents were informed.

"As a punishment they lost their breaktimes and were kept after school for several days. There are regular meetings between home and school to ensure that the boys understand the serious consequences of their behaviour."

The LEA, Buckinghamshire County Council, declined to comment on the punishment saying that the incident was a month old and had been dealt with "internally" by the school. Police confirmed an investigation was "on-going" but refused to comment further.
