A COOKHAM woman who stood against Gordon Brown in the general election last week has said she would do it all over again.
Liz Kwantes, of New Road, contested the Chancellor's Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath seat in Scotland to highlight the plight of pensions. Mrs Kwantes, 48, has no connection with Scotland at all, and was standing purely to highlight the "raw deal" pensioners are facing in the UK. But despite receiving only 47 votes, Mrs Kwantes said she enjoyed the experience.
District councillors from Chil-terns and Marlow also lost out including Mimi Harker (West Bromwich West), Norma Dias (Newcastle East and Wallsend) and David Meacock (Huddersfield). Great Marlow parish councillor Janet Pritchard lost out to Tory front bencher Teresa May in Maidenhead.
