A FORMER skiffle musician from Great Missenden is hoping to find his long lost band mates after discovering a poster from their past.

Ernest West, of Winslow Field, was a member of the Blue Chords skiffle group who played in and around the High Wycombe area for many years in the 1950s.

Mr West, 64, said: "I would really like to get in touch with all the members of the band again. Gordon Casbeard was on lead guitar, Tony Brown was the bass player and Gordon Dixon was also on guitar.

"We were together for about four years. We played all over the area. The dances in Prestwood Village Hall and Wooburn were always really memorable."

The band had quite a following, said Mr West. When they went to a battle of the bands event in Henley-on-Thames three coach loads of supporters followed behind.

Mr West has kept the poster from this event for 47 years.

This could have been their big break, but unfortunately, the band lost out to the Blue Jeans in the final and soon lost contact after this event.

The band used to wear blue jeans and black shirts on stage and even recorded a song called As Always.

Mr West said: "We played in so many places I can not remember them all.

"People used to come see us from all over. Lots of people used to dance to our music."

He added: "I would like to get in contact with the others, I haven't seen these guys for ages."
