BUCKINGHAMSHIRE Chilterns University has a number of students looking for 12-month work placements with local businesses.
They are all reading Business Studies, with some majoring in marketing, advertising, promotions management and human resources.
Short-term placements are ideal for companies who have important projects but no one available to start them, or businesses which need extra resources but don't necessarily want to take on someone permanently.
Mary Simpson, work placement officer said: "To ensure that the students benefit most from their time with us, we strongly encourage them to take a year out of their studies at the end of their second year and to find a work placement.
"The benefits to the students are obvious. They can put into practice all the theory they learn and they develop transferable skills which will equip them for their future careers."
Nick Thirsk, who is currently on work placement at CSSC Sports & Leisure said: "Theory is one thing, first hand experience is another. In such a competitive environment a degree is not just enough. This placement has added skills to my CV."
