There is nothing 51-year-old Steve Lipyeart likes more than a pint at his local pub, The Whiteleaf Cross in Market Square, Princes Risborough, before going to watch the Risborough Rangers.
Why do you drink here?
I live locally in Berryfield Road and I've always found the pub to be a friendly place to come a enjoy a drink. I have been drinking here since the pub opened in the 1970s.
What makes you keep coming back?
I think it is probably the atmosphere, which is really friendly. There is a good mix of young and old, and always someone to talk to. The landlord is nice, and the bar staff are great too.
What is your drink of choice?
I like a pint of Guinness, or sometimes Abbott. Only one or two mind.
What is the food like?
It's quite good from my experience.
The menu is interesting and varies from time to time which is nice.
Do you have a favourite dish?
Yeah - Liver and Bacon.
Have you made any friends in the pub?
Oh yes absolutely, there are always familiar faces in here to have a chat with. I also talk to the staff as well who are all really nice people.
Do you have any fond memories of times in the pub?
Well, I remember one Christmas one of the guys won a little micro bike in the Christmas draw. This guy was big, bigger than me and the bike was tiny. So some how I ended up riding this tiny bike up and down the pub. I think I'd had a drink or two.
Are you involved in any activities organised by the pub?
There is a group of four of us who meet up and go to watch Wasps play. Sometimes we have trips abroad as well to watch rugby. We went to Biarritz with the landlord.
