BEECHVIEW School has won a free training course run by a High Wycombe charity.
Pupils will now attend a schools' training course run by the Child Bereavement Trust which provides counselling to bereaved families.
The school, in Guinions Road, High Wycombe, was the first to return a questionnaire sent out by the charity which was designed to improve the training offered to schools.
The results showed that 36 per cent of schools in Buckinghamshire have never received any death and bereavement training, and felt that it was most important for them to learn what they could do in a practical way to support children when they are bereaved.
The Child Bereavement Trust's schools' training and support co-ordinator Jill Adams said: "I am absolutely delighted with the overwhelming response to our questionnaire. This indicates that this is something which schools now feel that they have to address."
