Jeweller Jerome Kempe thinks the Polecat Inn, in Wycombe Road, Prestwood, is a gem of a pub.
How long have you been coming to the Polecat, Jerome?
I first came here about ten years ago and then I worked here while I was at university.
What's the beer like?
It is very good. They have got a local brew with Brakspear bitter and Speckled Hen. But it is more of a food pub than a drinking pub.
What type of people come here?
It attracts all types of people of all different ages. I know quite a few people here. That is what I love about the place. Whenever I come here I will usually find someone I know. It's great to come here in the summer and have a drink outside.
What is the landlord John Gamble like?
He is very personable. He takes great care with the pub and its presentation. The staff are really good too.
What's the food like and do you have a favourite dish?
They serve Bucks Badger here. It is very popular and very reasonably priced like all the food here.
What is the atmosphere like at the Polecat?
The pub has a lovely atmosphere. There is only music on at the bar so you can hear yourself talk. The best time to come here is on a Sunday afternoon, spending it in the garden with a group of friends. Christmas is always particularly special when it is decorated.
