IT was with great dismay that we read that a near neighbour of ours, Lyndon Yorke, is thinking of moving because, according to your report, he may be the victim of a hate campaign after his house was vandalised.

It was reported that a Second World War gun turret, which had been on the roof of his garage, had been smashed by an intruder.

He had also received an anonymous letter claiming to be on behalf of residents, asking him to remove the gun turret.

Most of us who live close to him have no problem whatsoever and we don't know who wrote the letter.

In our eyes, he is a quiet, unassuming and good neighbour.

It is a great pity that the authors of the letter chose to remain anonymous. Having lived here for nearly 14 years, it has always been our impression that neighbours get on well with each other.

It is a shame that, whoever had a problem with Lyndon's turret, couldn't have simply knocked on his door and spoken to him about it.
