YOUR photograph in last week's Bucks Free Press of the Home Guard at Wooburn Green brought back memories.

When we left school in 1941 my friend and I lived and worked at Tring Park, and both joined the local Home Guard.

We were 16 at the time and kept our .303 rifles (plus bayonets of course) propped up in the corner of our wardrobe in the bedroom. What a good illustration this is of the namby-pamby society we live in today.
