WANT to thank everyone in Buckinghamshire who supported the British Red Cross over the last 12 months.
We supported more than 800,000 vulnerable people in the UK and many thousands more overseas. We responded to 56 emergencies in the UK, provided practical help and emotional support at fires and provided first aid training to more than 150,000 people.
In this region we helped nearly 8,000 with medical equipment, provided nearly 3,000 people with transport to appointments to see friends and relatives, assisted more than 1,000 refugees or asylum seekers, and reached more than 2,000 young people with first aid awareness or training.
More recently, the phenomenally generous response of the British public to the tsunami appeal has been staggering and has meant that so far more than 750,000 people have received assistance.
This Red Cross Week, May 1-8, I hope readers will continue to generously support this unique organisation and help vulnerable people in crisis.
Dougray Scott British Red Cross Ambassador
