BLUE Peter presenter Konnie Huq received a warm welcome from the pupils at Waterside Combined School, in Black Horse Avenue, Chesham, for the official opening of their friendship garden.
Konnie attended the ceremony on Thursday as the special guest of her sister, Chesham and Amersham Labour candidate Rupa Huq.
Waterside's head, Paul Marchant, said: "It was lovely for the children to meet Konnie and we were very pleased to welcome her to Waterside.
"The garden is a haven of tranquillity for pupils to seek refuge from the noise and bustle of the playground if they choose to, in their breaks and at lunch-time.
"It was built on a piece of wasteland just off the playground. The centre piece is an ancient apple tree which is all that remains of the old orchard."
He added: "There is a picnic table and bench for children to eat their lunch by and it is somewhere our friendship monitors can take children for a private chat who they notice are looking perhaps a little down or lonely."
