The Hillingdon & Uxbridge Times has teamed up with Hillingdon Primary Care Trust to keep you informed about major developments in health where you live.
Each month the newspaper will feature an article from the trust addressing any concerns you might have with healthcare provision in the borough. This is a chance for you to raise your questions about healthcare.
By emailing questions@hillingdon.nhs.uk you can let the trust know what issues are concerning you and what you want addressed in a future article. We hope this feature will give our readers a stronger voice on health matters in the community.
Public concerns continue over the future of Oak Farm Clinic in Long Lane, Hillingdon. Controversy about the closure of the health facility, run by Hillingdon Primary Care Trust (PCT), was sparked by the suspension of a mothers and toddlers group due to staff shortages.
For more than 20 years the NHS has provided healthcare services to the public from the clinic. The clinic's close connections to the community and its welcoming atmosphere have made uncertainty over its future an emotive topic.
"The PCT is aware of the public concern around the possible closure of Oak Farm," said Graeme Betts, chief executive of Hillingdon PCT.
"We are at an early stage of reviewing services and possible clinical settings.
"Both staff and the public will be kept informed of any proposed changes and given the opportunity to discuss and comment on any plans or changes to services."
As part of a financial exercise, the PCT is reviewing the use of all its buildings and services.
Services provided from or based at Oak Farm clinic are also under review.
The idea is to see if healthcare is being provided in the best places and as close as possible to the people needing the services.
The Oak Farm review was also promoted by the long-term plans of the local authority, which owns the property, to sell the building and land.
At present the PCT is not in a position to buy Oak Farm at commercial rates so is looking at alternative sites in the area for its services.
