AN URGENT call has gone out for volunteers to help with this year's hugely significant Marlow Town Regatta and Festival (MTRF).

The event the most spectacular highlight in the town's calendar will be the 150th since a rowing regatta was first recorded in Marlow.

The two-day show on Saturday, June 11, and Sunday, June 12 will also mark the MTRF's fifth anniversary after it filled the breach left when the Marlow regatta moved to Dorney.

Organisers say it will feature all the river racing and events from previous years, which have proved popular with competitors and visitors alike, but with the hope 2005 could be the best ever with a bit of help.

Dennis Sargeant, from the MTRF committee, said: "Some members of the committee have moved on to other areas and we need to replace them urgently to maintain and improve our standard.

"Particular areas where need is greatest include information technology, sponsorship and help before and during the Marlow Town Regatta and Festival itself some of it physical.

"We have to remind people that it's their regatta and we would like as many people as possible to help us with their expertise."

Awareness days during the year will help create interest among subscribers and potential subscribers alike.
