MARLOW Rowing Club's Olympic champions could become stars of the town's popular carnival following their outstanding achievement.
Marlow Carnival organisers have been in discussion with Marlow Rowing Club about the possibility of arranging open-top cars for silver medallists Cath Bishop, Katherine Grainger and Alison Mowbray and bronze medallist Sarah Winckless to parade through Marlow on September 18.
The idea has just been put to the winners and it is not known yet whether they will be able to do it.
Roger Wilson, carnival organiser, said: "We would love them to be there and for the town to say well done to them."
Peter Hunt, of Marlow Rowing Club, said: "I have asked Kath Bishop but she has not yet come back to me. I hope all three of our Marlow medallists will be able to come to the carnival and show the people of Marlow their medals. I think the carnival is really great for the town. It is a fun showcase for everything going on in the town."
He added that the club was pleased with the rowers' achievement and they will have their own private celebration within the rowing club. He said that the club were having their first committee meeting where they will discuss any further celebration.
A Wycombe District Council spokesman said they will do something to celebrate but it was too early to say what they were going to do.
The Marlow Carnival starts at Foxes Piece School, and continues along Newfield Road, Little Marlow Road, Chapel Street and Spittal Street, down the High Street into Higginson Park, Marlow.
As well as the procession the carnival includes an array of entertainment and stalls.
