BASS guitarist Nick Keynes said it was 'a dream come true' to be picked for up-and-coming boy band Ultra.
Nick, of White Hill Road, Chesham, has already appeared on Channel 4's The Big Breakfast and BBC1's Live and Kicking.
The 23-year-old worked for a marketing firm in Chalfont St Giles before joining Ultra in June last year.
He joined the group when their original bassist left.
The band, whose first single 'Say You Do' is due out on April 6, have been playing together for five years.
Ultra have also been featured in the magazines Smash Hits and Bliss. Last year, the band toured around the country, playing in venues including schools.
The band, who have also been recording their debut album, say that their influences range from The Beatles to 1980s pop stars Wham!, Spandau Ballet and Sade.
Nick, who used to go to Chesham High School, said he couldn't believe he was involved in the band.
He added: "It's really a dream come true, I always wanted to be in a band.
"Now that I have finally made it, I have to pinch myself to realise that it's true.
"It is early days, so I can't let myself get too excited in case it doesn't work out.
"The reaction we have got from the fans has been brilliant, so I just cross my fingers and hope that it will all come good," he said. Nick, who said his other goal was to drive a Formula One car around Silverstone racetrack, added: "We are a pop band, we are not ashamed to call ourselves that, but we all play our instruments.
"Hopefully, that will give us an extra advantage over other 'boy bands'."
Deputy head at Chesham High School, Jill Henderson, said: "I'm very pleased for him because he's the sort of guy who can handle the pressure."
She said: ""He was hardworking, lively and sociable when he was at school."
