Little pigs give radio show the runaround
TWO mischievous Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs have arrived at their new South Bucks home after causing havoc on a five-hour trip from Essex.
Four-year-old Chico and 18-month-old Lilly are now resting peacefully in a paddock in Seer Green, after a journey during which they headbutted a Kiss FM presenter, forcing the radio station to cut short its link with her.
Their weary keeper Kieran Holgate-Svensson twice had to pounce on the pigs with a blanket to stop them escaping from his clutches. The duo also had to be semi-sedated by an RSPCA vet.
Oldfields Stables, in Chalfont Road, Seer Green, contacted the radio station after bosses ran an appeal to find new owners for the two pigs.
When Mr Holgate-Svensson turned up to collect them on Thursday, he had to catch them with a blanket and call for an RSPCA vet to sedate them.
On their way to Seer Green, the two porkers stopped off at Kiss 100 for a live broadcast, but during the programme the drugs wore off.
Programme co-presenter Samantha Pettifer said: "I was crouching down doing the programme when one of the pigs just belted towards me.
"He barged into my shoulder, knocking me over, and we had to cancel that part of the show."
Mr Holgate-Svensson, of Oldfields Stables, said: "It was quite a day - these two pigs have been a handful. They are quite cute, but they have certainly got a bit of character.
"Their previous owner said it would take them a few days to settle in and get to know everyone - I suppose they are a bit like the Tamworth Two, really."
