Cowboys hit town
MISFORTUNE struck the Wycombe Charity Carnival as Mayor Ellen Hall's Rolls Royce overheated on the way to the event.
The vintage car, which had been loaned free of charge by a member of the public, broke down in the carnival procession in Easton Street as it made its way towards the Rye.
Councillor Hall had to continue her journey in a police Land Rover.
Despite the setback, thousands of people went to the Carnival, which took place on The Rye, High Wycombe, on Sunday.
One of the most popular events was the dog-handling show which featured animals from the Uxbridge Dog Training Club negotiating hurdles and tunnels.
Other attractions included the Arizona Outlaws, vintage motorcycles and music from the Caribbean Sunrise Band.
Organiser Anthi Emery said approximately 5,000 people turned up and she hopes to have raised about £2,000 for the four charities supported by this year's carnival - the British Diabetics Association, the High Wycombe Mayor's Appeal, Save the Children and the High Wycombe Lions.
She added: "Not only are we raising money for charity, but it's just a great day out for the whole family."
Charlotte Pettet, 7, of Holmers Farm Way, High Wycombe said: "My favourite part of the day was face-painting, but I also liked it when the dogs were chasing around the obstacle course."
