Aerobathon raises funds in memory of baby Jessie May
ENERGETIC keep fit fans braved Saturday's heatwave to raise more than £6,000 so terminally ill children can be nursed in their own homes.
Around 80 people took part in the event at Wycombe Sports Centre last Saturday in aid of the Jessie May Trust.
Jessie's parents, Philippa and Chris Purrington, of Daws Lea, High Wycombe, set up the trust after the death of their baby daughter in 1994 . She was taken ill while the family was staying in Bristol and the couple discovered there was no help at all for parents looking after terminally ill children at home in the area.
More than 80 families have been helped since the trust was set up.
Philippa said: "I just can't thank all the people that turned up enough. There are some very generous people out there and in particular I want to thank the sports centre who gave us their facilities free of charge."
