POLICE have launched a search for William Livingstone who went missing while camping in Wales.

Mr Livingstone, 63, of Cherry Tree Road, Holtspur, was camping in the Cwnmdu area of Crickhowell, Wales.

He has not returned to his tent since Wednesday morning, although police believe there has been a possible sighting of him on Thursday afternoon, close to the campsite.

Sergeant Graham Earp, community safety officer at Brecon police, said: "Obviously we are concerned and with the length of time he has been reported missing. We have done extensive searches with our officers, mountain rescue and the police helicopter.

"The other thing which is in his favour and ours is that the weather has been mild. Obviously we do fear for his safety though."

Police believe that Mr Livingstone may have walked or hitched a lift out of the area and are appealing for the public to come forward with any possible sightings.

He is described as 5ft 10in tall, with grey hair, blue eyes, of thin build and possibly wearing an overcoat and carrying a small bag over his shoulder.

Mr Livingstone walks in a very distinctive fashion with his shoulders hunched and head down, leading to a shuffling gait.
