CAMPAIGNERS have vowed to fight on after developers won their battle to tarmac over a quiet country lane.
Residents have been trying to prevent TDK Motors resurfacing Hill Farm Lane, Chalfont St Giles, since the company announced its plans last month.
Bosses postponed the work from the end of April until Monday after residents picketed the site with banners protesting against the development.
Workers who arrived on Monday to tarmac the lane were turned back again after residents put down wooden logs on each side of the lane, stopping the lorries driving past.
Smaller trucks arrived on Tuesday and contractors finally completed the work on Wednesday.
The Chalfont Residents Action Group (CRAG) said they will continue to fight TDK Motors if it tries to turn its land into an industrial site.
Protest group chairman, Alan Penson, said: "We don't feel that the tarmacking is necessary, but the main thrust of our concerns is to do with the increase in traffic and the possible development of the site.
"I do feel disappointed that the lane has been tarmacked, but this isn't the end of the fight, the central issue is to stop any industrial development."
TDK Motors refused to comment.
