SCHOOLBOY Simon Ward who helped make a trophy in memory of his late father went on to win the accolade at his school sports day.
Simon, 11, made a plinth for the trophy to commemorate the work his father, Dean, did as a parent governor at Micklefield Primary School, Micklefield, High Wycombe.
Mr Ward died last November of stomach cancer but had done a great deal for the school during his four years as a parent governor. The tribute was given at a sports day as he was a keen sportsman and played football for the Oakridge Church team.
Simon and his brothers Russell, eight, and Matthew, five, are in the school's Beech house, which beat the Oak and Ash houses and the boys collected the trophy at the school in Herbert Road, Micklefield, on July 12.
Mum, Sue, from Micklefield Road, said: 'We thought it would be nice to give a trophy for them to remember him by. It was a nice tribute to him.'
