AMBITIOUS Thame United have got a buyer lined up for their Windmill Lane Stadium and are hoping to move to a new site near Lord Williams's School.

United are confident they will make enough from selling their ground for housing, to build a new ground on a combined school and farm site and make a profit.

The new facility would include a ground capable of meeting Nationwide Conference grading requirements and provide training facilities and an all-weather pitch, which the Ryman first division club would share with the school.

United boss Andy Sinnott said: 'People say to me you've already got a nice set up, why change? But it's only bricks. If you've got a chance to improve and make a profit you've got to take it. If it goes through it will make us a major player and that's what we want to be.'

Negotiations for the sale of the ground are at an advanced stage. But no planning applications, either for the old or proposed new ground have been submitted.

On the field, United have been busy strengthening the side which just missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season.

They have signed Oxford United striker Adam Hamp and Oxford City pair Ian Concannon and Justin Lee. Witney's left midfielder Justin Merrit has also signed and Thame will also make a decision about Ryman League journeyman Nas Bashir, while a tribunal will decide how much they must pay Oxford City for 23-year-old wideman Chris Potter.

Thame also say they will welcome Ronnie Joe back with open arms if he decides Chesham is not for him.

Joe and teammate Jefferson Louis quit the Windmill for Chesham this summer but neither have cut the mustard and both tried out for Aylesbury during the week.

Last week, Thame won their own four-team pre-season tournament beating Dr Martens league side Cirencester 3-0 in the final.
