THE owner of a motorcyle business suffered the loss of more than £10,000 in goods in a burglary just days before moving to new premises in High Wycombe, putting his bike racing championship hopes at risk.

Thieves broke through the roof to get into Geoff Walker Motorcycles on the Princes Estate, Princes Risborough, between Sunday evening and Monday morning and stole Geoff's racing bike, the motor-cross racing bike belonging to his mechanic Stuart White plus £10,000 to £12,000 worth of clothing.

Geoff said: 'As if the move wasn't enough, we now have this to deal with. It has not been one of the best weeks of my life. I am leading the South Midlands Centre Enduro Expert Championships. The next race is on September 10 and I am hoping to find another bike before then.'

Geoff owned a Gas Gas 250 Enduro bike worth around £2,000.

Geoff Walker Motorcycles moved into Townfield Road just behind the elevenSeventy radio station this week and is holding an open evening next Wednesday to welcome old and new clients.

The company was one of around 45 businesses on the Princes Estate to be given notice in March by Ercol Holdings which bought the 23-acre site last November.

Ercol Holdings aims to demolish the existing buildings to put up a purpose-built factory, offices and wholesale showroom for Ercol Furniture, as well as offices and industrial and warehousing buildings.

The open evening on August 9 will run from 7 to 9pm.
