NEW signing Andy Rammell is set to make his first start in a Wycombe shirt tonight as Wanderers go head-to-head with another unbeaten side, Bristol Rovers at Adams Park (ko 7.45pm).

Rammell a £75,000 capture from Division Two rivals Walsall last Thursday, comes in as a straight swap for Andy Baird who has got a groin strain.

Fans got their first glimpse of the 33-year-old new striker when he replaced Baird in Friday's 3-1 win over Oxford United in front of the live Sky television cameras.

Boss Lawrie Sanchez is sure Rammell will become a Wycombe hero once he is fully match fit.

He said: 'Rammell's a proven centre forward who has scored goals wherever he has been. He's a legend in Walsall. His goals got Walsall promoted two years ago and I'm sure he can be a very good signing for us.'

Friday's victory over their local rivals equalled Wycombe's best-ever start to the season and took them to their highest position, second in the table, for 24 hours.

But Sanchez is not expecting an easy ride against Ian Holloway's Rovers. The West Country men are still smarting from their 1-1 draw at Notts County on Saturday and are determined to give Wanderers the backlash.

Rovers were all set for the points when County stole an injury-time equaliser by not returning the ball after Rovers kicked it out for one of their players to get treatment. Now Rovers are demanding a rematch.

Sanchez said: 'Bristol Rovers will give us a very hard game tomorrow night. They are undefeated this season and they will finish in the top eight this year.'

But the visitors could be without much of their normally vocal away choir at Adams Park tomorrow. Petrol pumps in Bristol have run dry and Rovers have admitted that many of their fans could struggle to travel to Buckinghamshire.
